- No two-tone rear
- Different coloured power button
- Square camera housing
- Clearly White, Just Black and Oh So Orange colours
Google’s Pixel devices have always featured a two-tone rear but that’s not the case for the Pixel 4 handsets. The new devices say bye bye to the physical fingerprint sensor on the rear, switching to just face unlock and they also opt for a smooth rear with a square camera housing in the top left corner.
A different coloured power button to the main body – another signature feature of Google’s Pixel devices in the past – does remain for the Pixel 4 devices, but all three of the colour options have a black frame making for quite striking phones in the case of the Clearly White and Oh So Orange models.
As you would expect given the names, there are two size options. The Pixel 4 measures 147.1 x 68.8 x 8.2mm and weighs 162g, while the Pixel 4 XL measures 160.4 x 75.1 x 8.2mm and weighs 193g.
Pixel 4 display
- Pixel 4: 5.7-inches
- Pixel 4 XL: 6.3-inches
- 90Hz refresh rate
The Google Pixel 4 has a 5.7-inch screen and the Pixel 4 XL has a 6.3-inch display for 2019. Both displays offer 90Hz refresh rates, like the OnePlus 7 Pro, offering a smooth and slick experience. Both offer an OLED display.
The Pixel 4 and 4 XL also come with a range of sensors in a bezel at the top of the display, allowing for motion gestures and face unlock. This means no notch for either Pixel device this year, with both opting for bezels at the top and bottom of the display.
The Pixel 4 has a Full HD+ resolution for a pixel density of 444ppi, while the Pixel 4 XL has a Quad HD+ resolution for a pixel density of 537ppi. Both have a 19:9 aspect ratio and both support HDR.
